Brooklyn and justin

Most Sentimental Moment

The most emotional part of the day happened just before the ceremony when Justin’s father, Randy, prayed over us. instead of doing a traditional “first look”, we opted to do a “first prayer”. Neither of us actually saw each other during the prayer; we both stood on opposite sides of the barn door, but we held hands with each other and Randy. it was a beautiful, raw, and emotional moment that we were fortunate to share with Justin’s Father.

Favorite part with friends and family

We had friends and family scattered across the United States who came together to celebrate the happiest day of our life. We had a blast tearing up the dance floor and reminiscing with some of our favorite people.

Biggest surprise

The bridal party spent the weeks leading up to the wedding creating a beautiful scrapbook that contained letters and pictures from each bridesmaid, the Mother of the Bride, and the Mother of the Groom. It was such a thoughtful way to start the wedding celebration!

The Bride also surprised the Groom during the garter song with a Smirnoff Ice! We kicked off the reception with an ice challenge, and our guests loved it! The reception was a blast from start to finish.

Our traditions

Our first dance song was “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Haley Rinehart. This was special to us because Justin’s parents danced to the original version by Elvis Presley during their wedding.

How we personalized it

The bride’s parents created a beautiful unity cord sign which incorporated into the ceremony. The cord of three strands ceremony symbolizes the joining of one man, one woman, and God into a marriage relationship. “A cord of three strands is not easily broken” Ecclesiastes 4:12

We also decided to incorporate Ruth 1:16-17 into our ceremony. Justin’s career has moved us across the country multiple times, and will inevitably, lead to us to move again in the future. During our ceremony, we vowed to make wherever we are, our home.

Our honeymoon

We decided to delay our honeymoon until Valentine’s Day! In 2017, we took a cruise in September during three major hurricanes, so this year we decided to play it safe. We will be spending the day of love relaxing on the beach in the Dominican Republic.

Best part of the planning process

By far, the best part of the planning process was watching the design come together. We spent over a year imagining how our day would look, and it was incredibly rewarding to see how beautiful it turned out.

What’s next for us

2019 is the year of travel for us! We have several vacations with family and friends planned for next year. We also get to celebrate some of our closest friends at THEIR weddings next year. Talk about forever wedding dates!
